Opening Reception: What Lies Beneath: Traumatic Brain Injury
Miss the event or want to rewatch it? You can watch it here!
Join photographer Martha Hoelzer for a virtual art opening of her exhibit What Lies Beneath: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) sponsored by the North Carolina Athletic Trainer’s Association and exhibited at the Clearwater Arts Center & Studios.
She explores the impact of a traumatic (concussion) or acquired (tumor) brain injury on the visual system. She photographically examines the brain’s ability to interpret the environment from the patient’s perspective. This series received an honorable mention in the 2020 International Photography Awards. Join her for it’s debut opening!
She will be joined by Dr. Brett Miller, of Triangle Visions Optometry to discuss questions that may arise about the visual impacts of a TBI (think concussion) and ABI (acquired brain injury - think stroke).
The images are currently on display at the ClearWater Arts Center & Studios in Concord, NC, however, the gallery is currently closed due to COVID-19. They are working on protocol that will allow them to admit in-person viewings soon, in the lower-level Greenway Gallery using a reservation system. Stay tuned to ClearWater Arts Center & Studio for details.
